There are many terrifying things out there that people throughout the world could agree upon. The recent invasion of poisonous spiders in a town in India, the continued fan base of Fox News, Magic Mike, people that read and enjoy 50 Shades of Grey, and so on, and so on. But nothing seems to be as terrifying as the unknown...Well, an invasion of poisonous spiders is hard to beat, but the fear of the unknown is a close second.

John Steinbeck claimed that even after receiving a Nobel Prize in literature, he still found a blank page terrifying. How does one create something out of nothing? This unknown manifestation of creative energy may turn out to be nothing worth setting eyes upon.

Staring at a blank canvas, a lump of clay, or an empty ledger can bring out the most primal of our emotions. The feeling of fear rises from deep inside as we do not know what will happen next. But fear not, my friends. You have already conquered the hardest step which is to have the passion to create something in the first place. The next thing to do is to dive into whatever it is that gives you the drive. As acclaimed author, Lee Stringer, puts it, once you actually start creating something you are passionate about, “it’s like shaking hands with God.” Everything will then fall into place and that part of you that feared the unknown will rest easy.

The only thing to fear is waking up one day and realizing that you have wasted years watching others do something beautiful with their imaginations while you sat idly by.

That, and poisonous spider invasions.
