Tuned to the Key of Georgia
Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:44PM A few years back, I walked into the Grog Shop, a CBGB-esque concert venue in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. This litte gem of a performance club is a bright spot on the east side of Cleveland as it brings in some of the most talented individuals from all over the world out of the woodwork Shortly after walking in, a man walked onto the stage armed only with a microphone. As he began speaking, the words that flowed from his mouth to my ears gave me an instant connection to the inner workings inside his mind. Even though I was surrounded by countless individuals, I felt like he and I were the only two people on Earth. This man's name is Buddy Wakefield.

After selling off all of his possesions and leaving his position at a biomedical firm, Mr. Wakefield went on to tour throughout the United States performing his spoken word poetry. He then became the first person to win the World Poetry Slam Championship two years in a row. His intensity onstage combined with profound lyrics make him one of the top contenders in the game, leaving most others choking on his exhaust.
Some people can talk the leg off a wooden Indian and not really say anything at all. Some people only need to say a few words before you realize exactly how beautiful their inner consciousness is. Mr. Wakefield is one of these gifted individuals.
If you want to expand your mind through the art spoken word, contact your local concert venue, university, or town hall, and demand they book Mr. Wakefield for a gig.
