Trips Around the Globe

Yetis are not known for being stationary creatures. Our constant desire to keep it movin' has often been mistaken for fear of being discovered by you guys, but in actuality we just really like to check things out.

Or maybe it's just me.

I want to see the blood squirt out of a Muy Thai fighter’s eye during a fight, not just watch MMA fighters pussyfoot around on Pay-Per-View. I want to catch my own guinea pigs in Ecuador and fry them to perfection – not just have Anthony Bourdain disdainfully tell me how succulent their meat tastes. Most of all, I want climb Everest and prove to everyone the world over that Yetis come from a long lineage of champion mountain climbers and are not just trying to scare the excrement out of human climbers over and over again.

Even if you’re not a big adventurer, films like SAMSARA will have you rushing home to pack your bags by the time it's over. The flicks was "filmed over five years in twenty-five countries" and  "it is one of only a handful of films shot on 70mm in the past forty years."

The film has no narrator, but relies on music and visuals to take the viewer on a trip around the world.

Sister flick, Baraka, also takes viewers on a roller coaster ride. According to the official website, the film was "originally shot in 25 countries on six continents" and brought together a series of stunningly photographed scenes to capture what director Ron Fricke calls "a guided mediation on humanity."

"The goal of the film," says producer Mark Magidson on the official site, "was to reach past language. nationality, religion and politics and speak to the inner viewer."

Become a nomad for an afternoon.
